I Served on 15 (Light Armoured) Sqn RAF Regiment from 1984 to mid 1985, I left the Regimental Training Depot to arrive at RAF Hullavington only to find the Sqn was serving in Northern Ireland, so I joined the Sqn in NI and spent the next few weeks doing NI training with various Army units until I then re-joined the Sqn doing the regular VCP's, heli VCP and patrols and 12 hours on 12 hours off shift, however most of the time off was spent training and running.

October 1985 I was sent on my first outing at Greenham Common for a 4 week stint, living in green huts you would not use for cattle. This was however where I learnt snow clearing techniques and how to chase rabbits in a Landover and of course the women who for some reason wanted to get on the camp then when we got them wanted to get of again ...odd lot

November 1985 The Sqn was sent to Cyprus for six weeks where we spent time on the ranges, running in the mid day sun and QRF duties, and a good few beers, some guys decided they wanted to spice things up a bit with the RM's in the Naffi one night and spent the rest of the tour on what we called the Penal Flight getting extra duties and running practice.

January 85 Another tour at Greenham Common, S10 Respirator trials, Ranges, running around the Perry track with telegraph poles just for fun, and an exercise where a flight of us played enemy against the RAOC.

Mid 85 was spent on exercise in Germany, but first we had to travel by ferry from the UK to Hamburg, hours of rough Sea were the toilets had flooded the passageways, and some guys had a few to many beers and started to impress a school party who were at the disco on board, The exercise was a success as usual and some one nicked my wallet.

After that I was posted to 1 Sqn RAF Regiment at Laarbruch Germany
